How to increase organic SEO traffic

SEO

When clients get in touch, one of the biggest issues they face is getting people to find their product or service. This is where SEO comes in, and more to the point: organic SEO. A lot of SEO companies throw money at expensive PPC (Pay Per Click), but this can be both time and budget wasting.

Here are some top tips for increasing organic SEO:

  1. Blog! I’ve touched on this before, but fresh content is paramount for staying relevant to Google. Find your long-tailed keywords, and use these as topics.

  2. Optimise content for readers, not search engines. Remember keyword stuffing? Yeah, that’s still a big no-no. But also, avoid stuffing your content for a bot. Instead, write for your ideal customer, not your ideal robot.

  3. Connect. You can do this via social media and other blogs. Build your audience, reach out and connect with your potential clients.

  4. Get your meta down. The three main ingredients for optimising your web page are: meta title, page title and URL. Get those clinched with your key target and you are well on your way to gaining more visits and conversions.

  5. Internal links. Look up, I’ve done it. Internal linking keeps visitors on your website longer, exploring content and sharing.

  6. Keep creating content. As I mentioned, blogging keeps your website up to date and fresh. It also shows your audience and potential customers that you are engaged and up to date.

  7. Create Featured Snippets. This is where your blogging comes in. By producing featured snippets for frequently asked questions in your blog posts, you are more likely to appear organically in search results.

  8. Linking. Take a closer look at my Why Backlink for SEO, but in a nutshell: finding higher ranking websites to be back linked from will have a positive effect on your SEO.

  9. Fix website issues. Is your website mobile friendly? Do you have broken links or returning errors? Run a diagnostic on your site, and get these fixed ASAP.

  10. Speed it up. Make sure your website isn’t being slowed down by large image or video files. These will really harm your website’s performance and get knocked down in Google’s search rate too.
